A 10 day trip in Bali - Indonesia

Bali in Indonesia, 10 days between temples and rice terrace

We started our 10 day trip in Bali with Kuta / Legian where we spend one day, the time to visit the city, do a massage and organize our trip for the next few days.
Actually, nothing special to do in Kuta, it is a very touristic place, and most of the time overcrowded.
We tried the beach, which is quite big, with waves for the surfer (but the current is strong).

UBUD

Easy to get there by bus from Kuta.
We started with the market, and then we went to see the famous Monkey Forest
Monkeys there look cut and nice but they are not! Do not bring any food and do not buy some bananas at the entrance of the forest. If they smell food they can be really agressive... I was really scared when one of them jumped on my backpacker :-)

In Ubud, it is also very nice to see a typical dance show at night.
You can buy the ticket entrance directly on the street (many different show every night).
That was amazing, especially when the dancers played with their eyes.

FROM UBUD TO BEDUGUL

On the way to Bedugul, you can stop at different places:
- Sangeh to visit the Monkey Forest (it is on the way, but the one at Ubud is much better)
- Mengwi to visit the Royal Family Temple (see picture below)
- Percan to see a coffee plantation

For the story, at this plantation you can try the most expensive coffee in the world. Coz it comes from the poo of an animal, the civet, who eats coffee bean and digests it. Then the farmer extracts the coffee bean from the poo. Apparently with this method the taste is better...

BEDUGUL - Temple and Lake Beratan

JATI LUWIH RICE TERRACES
Just amazing!

TANAH LOT TEMPLE
Actually, a very nice and beautiful place to see the sunset, but unfortunately, overcrowded :(

TAMPAKSIRING - spring and temple

Also known "Holy water Temple", it is a place where local people come to purify the soul and their mind.

TIRTA GANGGA, the water palace

And on the way from Tirta Gangga to Abang village through the rice terraces.
One of the most spectacular rice field views in Bali (not far from Tirta Gangga, you can walk until there).

It was the main places (most popular) to visit in Bali, but if you have time, you can also stop at:

- Make a quick stop at Amlapura - Karangasem, a daily local market, very colorful, sitting on the main road connecting Candi Dasa and Ahmed

- And even try the Bemo to get there :)
It's a local minibus, often crowded, without AC of course and sometimes with animals.... No station, no direction written, nothing so if you wanna try it, be patient and don't get lost.... It's an experience, even an adventure!

- Have a look to the small villages around Ubud Gentong, Sapat, Penusuan, Pakudui, Mas and Sukawati by scooter

- And stop at Tegallalang rice terrace (yes, another one :)
